Peppa Pig Live

Last week the Boy and I, along with the One He Loves and her mum went to see Peppa Pig Live at G Live in Guildford. We have been to the theatre quite a bit and the quality of performance aimed at the under 5s age range has been very variable so I am always a bit hesitant about what to expect.

The show starts with “Daisy” who is a very chirpy host to the performance keeping everyone on track for the Treasure Hunt. One by one the characters from Peppa Pig (Peppa, George, Danny Dog, Zoe Zebra, Pedro Pony) appear and are the main characters throughout, although there are some appearances from others. Although the characters weren’t life size, which can sometimes be a bit disappointing, they were good sized puppets which seemed very realistic and were handled well by the actors.

The storyline was nice and simple, a pirate treasure hunt and they incorporated some very nice songs into the show which were catchy and simple enough for the whole audience to get involved, adults included! The staging was very bold and colourful and at one point the lights went out and UV lights were used to make fish appear to swim across the stage.

The Boy and the One He Loves were captivated throughout the 80 minute performance which didn’t feel too long at all (there was a short interval as well which gave you time for toilet stops or ice cream purchases.

I was really impressed with this performance and I think it was the best live show we have seen. It was entertaining, based on a good storyline, the staging was lovely and the audience participation kept the kids active as well. All in all a lovely day out.

We were provided free tickets to review this but all opinions are our own.
