My Baby Girl is….

13 weeks today.

Utterly gorgeous.

Loving raspberries on her neck.

Not quite able to giggle yet but I can see she is trying.

More and more aware of the world and interested in everything.

Being a cheeky madam whilst feeding and keeps pulling off to grin at me just to show me who’s boss.

Driving me crazy by waking up anytime between 5.30am and 7.30am – there is a big difference!

Very happy, chatty and smiley if she has a good nap, which thankfully now she usually does.

Soft, warm and very very strokeable.

Loud when she cries.

Impatient and will not listen to reason.

Getting bigger everyday,

Losing her hair at the back where she rubs it in her sleep.

Growing out of 0-3 month babygros.

Able to melt my heart when I wake her up and she gives me this amazing smile which seems to be saying “wow, its you again and that makes me happy”.

Top 5 Baby Inventions to Make You Rich

Feeding a tiny baby can take a long time and if you’ve forgotten your kindle / book /  iPhone you sit there staring adoringly at your angel for a while until your mind starts to wonder. Well mine does anyway. I wonder how I could possibly get my kindle from the bedroom upstairs without disturbing Baby Girl, or whether Baby Girl is undisturbable or if I do disturb her will she gurgle happily until I have my kindle then resume feeding and go to bed easily. So on one of these mind-wondering feeds, I started thinking about the Top 5 Baby Inventions to Make you Rich. Here are my 5 and if you invent any of them, not only will you become rich beyond your wildest dreams but you will also have your first purchaser – just let me know! Continue reading

The last hurdle

I am 39 weeks pregnant tomorrow, so within 3 weeks we should have a whole new bundle of joy with us. As previously mentioned I am excited and petrified at the same time. Although I think the strongest feeling I have is one of curiosity. Continue reading

The Gallery – Birth

I feel like this post is a momentous one, my first ever Gallery entry. I have been meaning to partake in it for a while but just haven’t got around to it however this week was one I couldn’t pass up. I recently wrote my Birth Story on my blog and that, along with being pregnant, has meant that birth is at the forefront of my mind at the moment.

I know lots have people have interpreted this theme very differently but I am going bog standard because to me when I think Birth there is one thing that springs to mind before anything else, and that is my beautiful Boy. Continue reading

20 week scan

The Man and I went to the hospital on Monday morning for my 20 week scan (I was actually 21+3 but we had missed it at 20 weeks as we were on holiday), we were both fairly relaxed as I had been feeling Poppy kick for a couple of weeks so we knew it was definitely there but of course there was a little worry that everything wouldn’t be perfect. The sonographer said the usual “I will scan you first and take a look and then let you see” during which time your heart beats like a drum and you think you’ve imagined every movement, but luckily this only lasted for about 10 seconds and we quickly saw our babys heart beating like a drum on the screen. It was awesome.

Apparently it has arms, legs, hands, feet, a heart with 4 chambers with blood going in and out, a head with a brain, no cleft lip, kidneys and thanks to a close up of its face we even know it has a tongue! Poppy is alive and well and as far as they can tell to date, perfectly formed. I decided I want a surprise version so we didn’t find out the sex, the Man wanted to find out but readily agreed to my decision when I glared at him with evil pregnancy hormoned eyes. I cannot wait to find out, but for now I am enjoying guessing using the old wives tales.

It was a lovely time for us and we came away with big grin and excitement at what the future holds. So here Poppy is (its the head and chest in case you can’t figure it out!)
